The 5 best anti-aging ingredients

Looking for the best anti-aging ingredients? We'll get you started by sharing our 5 favourites.

Peptides

Most people who are interested in cosmetics are generally familiar with the term “peptide.” At the same time, very few people truly know how this miracle ingredient works.
In theory, signs of aging are caused by the malfunction or deficiency of one or more proteins. So, what if we were able to mimic these proteins to restore the skin's functions? Well, that's exactly what peptides do! In fact, peptides are amino acids (pieces of protein) that the skin uses as effectively as if it had been given the protein itself. Note that there are as many different kinds of peptides as there are proteins.

Anti-aging role: By passing itself off as the deficient protein, peptides provide the anti-aging effect you would expect. But why, exactly, is it such an advantage to use skincare that contains peptides? Simply because the protein itself is too big to penetrate the skin and could therefore never perform as well as a peptide, which is perfectly suited to meet the skin’s needs.

Skincare products that contain peptides: At Lierac Paris, the most complete anti-aging peptide we use is called Hexapeptide-FX. This particular peptide replaces the Foxo protein, which is essential for renewing stem cells. The result? Prevention and correction of numerous signs of aging thanks to an overall anti-aging effect. You’ll find Hexapeptide-FX in all of our Premium products, including the Premium Cure .
Complementary ingredient
: An active moisturizer such as hyaluronic acid, which is a key ingredient in Lierac Paris skincare products, helps reinforces the effects of many peptides.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid can actually be one of two things—a component of the skin or a cosmetic ingredient. In fact, the skin itself produces a good quantity of hyaluronic acid. This productivity, however, decreases over the years. Every 10 years, we produce 6% less hyaluronic acid, and that really adds up over time.
Thanks to its well-established reputation, hyaluronic acid is an ingredient commonly re-created by cosmetics companies to boost hydration and, in doing so, provides anti-aging care for the skin. This ingredient, incredibly similar to the one we naturally produce, is easily tolerated and appreciated by all skin types.

Anti-aging role: Hyaluronic acid has the ability to retain 1000x its weight in water. A true sponge, it keeps skin hydrated and plumped in addition to reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles or preventing them altogether.

Skincare products that contain Hyaluronic Acid: Hyaluronic acid is at the heart of Lierac Paris formulas. And, taking things one step further, Lierac Paris Laboratories even formulated the Hyalu-3 Concentrate - an ingredient that provides the skin with Hyaluronic Acid while also stimulating it to create its own.

Complementary ingredient: Hydration is the key to healthy skin. Since Hyaluronic Acid promotes hydration, using it also reinforces the effectiveness of other anti-aging ingredients used simultaneously.

Retinol

Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A, recognized for helping ensure the skin’s proper functioning. It is the secret to toned skin with few wrinkles, good cell renewal and the proper functioning of melanocytes, for a radiant complexion that is free of dark spots.

Anti-aging role: Always a popular cosmetic ingredient, Retinol meets a variety of skincare needs. However, although this particular ingredient has many great qualities, it is sometimes poorly tolerated, causing redness and discomfort.
To ensure you enjoy the benefits of Retinol without any issues, Lierac Paris uses Bakuchiol, a 100% plant-based ingredient that is perfectly tolerated, even by the most sensitive skin. Even outperforming Retinol in some cases, Bakuchiol has what it takes to make a name for itself in the skincare world.

Skincare products that contain Bakuchiol: Bakuchiol is the star ingredient in SEBOLOGIE Regulating Gel for skin with imperfections as well as in the CICA-FILLER line, which specifically targets wrinkles.

Complementary ingredient: Bakuchiol can be combined with just about anything and does not cause photosensitivity like Retinol, which must be used with a little more vigilance. With Retinol, it is important to avoid any kind of acid as well as Vitamin C and wear an SPF sunscreen.

Vitamin C

Of all the vitamins the human body needs to function properly, Vitamin C is by far the one it needs the most. A daily dose of Vitamin C is absolutely essential. However, the challenge lies in the fact that the body cannot store Vitamin C and use it the following day. You, therefore, need to replenish your Vitamin C every day.

Anti-aging role: Vitamin C plays several different roles for the skin. It protects the skin’s barrier function by making it stronger. It also improves collagen production and helps tone skin, thereby limiting the appearance of wrinkles. And, of course, let’s not forget the fact that it improves cell renewal, making skin more luminous and radiant!

Products that contain Vitamin C
: Lierac’s Mesolift C15 Concentrate contains a high concentration of Vitamin C - an optimal dosage of 15%, which happens to be one of the highest available on the market!

Complementary ingredient: Vitamin C deficiency quickly leads to a dull complexion and accelerates aging. During periods of intense fatigue, it is the most important vitamin to take into consideration. However, once the skin has recovered (count on 20 to 30 days), other ingredients can take over to help maintain the results. Because of its ability to help cells oxygenate properly, Magnesium is an ideal complementary ingredient. You can find it in the HYDRAGENIST line of products as well as in the MESOLIFT Cream.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants help prevent or slow oxidation by neutralizing free radicals. This is a phenomenon to be taken seriously when caring for your skin, whether you are preventing or correcting signs of aging. Certain elements such as UV rays and skin inflammation accelerate oxidation, somewhat the same way as rain can cause metal to rust faster. Oxidation indeed has an exponential effect, meaning that the more oxidation there is, the more is created.

Anti-aging role: Oxidation is a phenomenon that permanently damages cells just as rust damages metal. Think about the signs of aging that you are the most concerned about. These will get worse with the presence of oxidation—and so, the role of antioxidants is to stop oxidation in its tracks.
Since oxidation affects all cell functions, antioxidants can therefore reduce all signs of aging. That being said, antioxidants provide the most impressive results when used as a preventive measure.

Skincare products that contain antioxidants: The majority of Lierac Paris products contain antioxidants. However, the most powerful antioxidants—in Black Rose, Orchid and Poppy extracts—are found in the PREMIUM line. These natural plant sources provide the greatest benefits. Indeed, their deep pigmentation comes as no surprise considering that this is synonymous with strong antioxidant powers.
